Jake is such an engineer....
Jake has figured out how to open up the baby gate to get into the kitchen. Somehow, he figured out that if pushes on the mesh part of the gate with a lot of force, a couple of feet away from the door, it dislodges the hinge on the bottom and then he knows how to open the hinge on the top. Just crazy! We've clearly never done that so I don't know how he figured it out...but I do think its genius! Such an engineer.....
We will try to get a video of that...
He is still saying hi and bye-bye alot...especially at the grocery store. He also recently learned to say "car" and "potty", although it sounds more like, "pie". He can point to my nose and mouth when I ask him to, but is still learning his own. When we ask him if wants to take a bath, he runs to the bathroom and bangs on the door, ready for his bath! Also, when I tell him that we need to go change his diaper, he runs to his bedroom door and waits for me to open it. He has really picked up associations and what things mean. He has 4 teeth on the top now and 3 on the bottom. His hair is getting really cute and curly in the back.
The snow was fun but we are SOOO ready for some warmer weather. Jake just wants to go outside and play and most days it is just too cold and windy to go out for a good amount of time. So, he gets antsy...understandably. Spring could not come any sooner!!

Jake's latest and greatest....
So, lately Jake has really been catching on to things and copying things. At Stroller Strides the other day, he started copying us as we were stretching our arms at the end of class. And he is copying the monkey sounds, "ooh, ooh, ooh", when he sees monkeys. The best is that he is now saying hi...it sounds like, "Hi-ye!"..so cute, and then he waves. And when he waves it looks like he is "waxing on and waxing off" like Karate Kid. He also said, "green" the other night! He currently has 5 teeth and finally weighs over 20 lbs! Yay! Time for a "big boy" car seat. Phil is doing great with work and is very busy.I know he wishes he had more time for more of his adventure races and triathalons. Stroller Strides is going well...just looking forward to outdoor classes again! I'm going to get my Kickboxing and Spinning certifications in order to keep my exercise certification valid and might try to teach some classes at local gyms. Overall, the Deans are doing great and having fun!
Chrismas '09 in Florida
The Dean family made our annual "road trip" to Florida for Christmas. We had an awesome time with our families! Jake traveled so well in the car and handled it great. The dogs did great too! We went to the beach a number of times and Jake loved it. He kept walking right into the ocean with no fear. He also loved playing with the sand and chasing the seagulls. We got to visit our favorite Sarasota restaurant, "Philipi Creek" and enjoyed Oysters, Garlic Shrimp, Grouper sandwich and Coronas...the usual for the Truitt family. :) We also had a great time with the Deans and enjoyed the beach as well. We got to see the family for the Christmas party and that was wonderful. We spent Christmas eve and Christmas Day with the Dean's Grandparents and had a wonderful time. Jake really enjoyed the Chrismtas tree, climbing on the presents, his antlers, and especially, all of his new toys and books! He loves spending time with his family. Big thanks to Uncle Mike for letting us stay at his house and in his room. He is quite a guy. :) We stopped in Tallahassee on the way back, very early in the morning, and I got a picture in front of my old dorm, Gilchrist, and with the Bobby Bowden statue. We then stayed in Mississippi for New Years and were asleep by 10pm. Party on! We feel so blessed to have such an amazing family and the most beautiful boy, Jacob.
Family shot
We got to visit my brother and his girls in Orlando...loved his house on the lake and had an awesome time with the girls.
Family Feud Winner!
My Dad was the champion of the 1st "Family Feud" Fantasy Football league! It came down to my Dad against Phil for the championship...my Dad ended up with the trophy! Good job guys!
Bobby Bowden - LEGEND!
We stopped by the Florida State stadium very early in the morning and snuck a photo with the legend, Bobby Bowden.
